SSSB Officers Participate in Memory Ride to raise money for Alzheimer's research
Riding for a Cure – Six South Shore Savings Bank executives took part in the 13th annual Memory Ride to raise money for Alzheimer’s disease research. Riding for “Team SSSB” were (from left to right) Lynn Tempesta and her husband, Frank Tempesta; Richard Testa; and Philip Melanson. Other members of Team SSSB were Janet Frye, Jane Wing, Richard Duhaine and David Frye. Joyce Duhaine also participated as a member of the volunteer medical team. The team has raised over $13,000, including a $5,000 donation from South Shore Savings Bank and its Charitable Foundation.
As many as 5.3 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease – 120,000 in Massachusetts alone. Since its inception in 1997, the Memory Ride has raised over $1.8 million for Alzheimer’s research. Ninety percent of the money raised by Memory Ride participants funds the Memory Ride grant awarded through the Alzheimer’s Association’s research grants program, while ten percent of the proceeds stay in Massachusetts to help fund programs and services.
