Weymouth, MA  March 30, 2009: On Saturday, April 4th, twenty teams of racers will suit up to compete on the kart tracks at F1 Boston in Braintree for bragging rights and the Children’s Challenge Race trophy. Funds raised by the racing teams benefit the work of Weymouth based South Shore Day Care Services, a non-profit agency providing early education and youth development programs to over 1,200 community children and families.

South Shore Savings Bank and State Street Corporation are track sponsors and racing teams include 10 teams of State Street employees plus teams from Quincy Mutual Fire Insurance Company, Randolph Savings Bank, Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA, Callahan/Hoffman Company, Eastern Bank and others. Evening sponsors include Electroswitch Corporation, Arbella Insurance, S Bank, A.W. Perry, Inc. and Braintree Cooperative Bank.

"South Shore Savings Bank is pleased to support South Shore Day Care Services in their mission of providing high-quality child care to families throughout the region," said South Shore Savings Bank President and CEO John C. Boucher.  "In this time of economic stress, it is particularly important that working parents be able to pursue employment knowing that their children are being cared for in a safe, nurturing environment."

The event features entertainment for non-racers, including casino games, a billiards tournament, darts tournament, Wii raffle and silent auction. Spectators can view racing from the lounge while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and beverages. Tickets to the event are $75 each or $125 a pair and are available by calling South Shore Day Care Services at (781) 331-8505.
